Diane Hoeptner's paintings feature poetic arrangements of flowers, fruit, pottery and sometimes old toys. Lush painterly transitions from light to shadow reveal solid forms that have a tactile appeal.

Diane grew up in rural NE Ohio.  While majoring in graphic design at Kent State University she  discovered that she was as a failure at (now old school) methods like press type and the use of an exacto blade.

Subsequently a case of wanderlust coupled with a desire for sunshine and big city opportunities lead her to Los Angeles for what would be a 17 year stay.   She finished a BA in Studio Art at California State University , Northridge.  Upon graduation, she enjoyed many years as an animator for video games and films.

Her first year of fulltime painting resulted in numerous regional awards. Public collections that showcase Diane's paintings include Kohl's corporate offices, Obaji headquarters and the Cardinal Woods Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Ohio. Saks Fifth Ave offered hand signed limited
edition giclees of one of her water lily paintings. Lesson packs on Diane's technique were published in the late 90's. More recently a major greeting card company optioned the image rights on several of her florals... Diane enjoys switching creative gears occasionally--to paint her "floaty florals" for her poster publisher.

She moved back home to Ohio in 2004. She currently resides with her husband and two cats in Tremont, an arty and historic area of Cleveland.

While nothing beats seeing the paintings in life, Diane's new work can be easily viewed and accessed online.  Find Diane's paintings posted almost daily on her blog, search paintings by flower, purchase direct and find out where she's showing next!

Color pencil artist meets oil paints (again.)  I learned how to paint  in college many moons ago…  In 2008, I became inspired by the Daily Painters Movement and decided to try oils again. Daily Painters vow to paint one small painting every day then post it online!  A 1940's Pinocchio doll was my first subject. The practice of daily painting has forced remarkable improvements in my abilities...I've never looked back!"
